When is the last time you disagreed with someone? If it was recently you are not alone, In my lifetime civil litigation filings have increased 192% and violent crime is up 28%. You only have to turn the news on to see our country is in a conflict resolution crisis! As the youngest of 3 girls of a teacher in Alabama I can still hear my mother’s voice saying “Isabella BE SWEET” I thought that meant “Be Quiet” Throughout my school years I began to see that me being quiet and letting the fiercest voice in the room reign was not working well for anyone! I learned that conflict is really an opportunity to learn because everyone’s opinion comes from experience and has value. It is only when we learn to collaborate and sometimes compromise that we can make progress. So, I wrote, illustrated, and published a children’s book about my experience in 2018 and have taught hundreds of children through my Be SWEET program each year since.
